Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 24 asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/4 cup egg substitute or egg white
  • 1 package (8 ounces) reduced fat cream cheese

Method

Step 1

Add asparagus to boiling water, cover and cook 3 min. Drain asparagus and immediately place in ice water. Drain and pat dry.

Step 2

In bowl, beat cream cheese and salt until smooth.

Step 3

Unfold dough on floured board. You can roll it out to 1/4-in. thick to make it larger. Cut each sheet in half widthwise. Spread cream cheese mixture lengthwise over half of dough to within 1/2-in. of edges.

Step 4

Arrange two rows of three spears lengthwise in single layer over cream cheese. Brush edges of dough with some egg substitute, fold dough over filling and press edges together to seal. Cover and chill for 1 hour.

Step 5

Cut widthwise into 1-1/4-in. pieces. Place 1-in. apart on baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Brush with remaining egg. Bake at 425° for 8 to 12 minutes.
