Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs

Method

Step 1

Sift flour, salt and baking soda together. Work shortening and peanut butter together until creamy. Stir in vanilla, then sugars gradually. Beat until fluffy. Add eggs. Beat thoroughly.

Step 2

Add dry ingredients blending well after each addition. Shape into balls. Place on greased cookie sheets and flatten slightly with a fork or a potato masher.

Step 3

Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes.
