Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2-1/2 teaspoons chili powder, divided
  • 1 cup apple jelly
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 pork loin roast (4-6 pounds)

Method

Step 1

Combine salt, garlic salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder. Rub roast with mixture.

Step 2

Place pork in a baking dish and roast at 325° for 2-1/2 - 3 hours. About 30 minutes per pound.

Step 3

Bring remaining chili powder, apple jelly, ketchup and vinegar to a boil for 2 minutes. Baste or brush roast with jelly mixture 15 minutes before cooking is done.

Step 4

Mix 1/2 cup pan drippings with remaining jelly sauce. Reheat and serve with roast.

You can also make this recipe using pork tenderloins. They’ll cook in about  a half hour
