Ingredients

  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut

Method

Step 1

In a double boiler combine first 4 ingredients and cook for 11 minutes. Cool slightly. Add rice krispies and walnuts. Drop by teaspoonful into coconut with fingers and coat. It's easiest with gloves. Dunk them in coconut and roll like a meatball to stick it on. Put into paper cuplets and chill.

I know, you don’t have a double boiler. Who does these days, but you don’t need one. Put a glass or metal bowl into a saucepan. You want it to fit tight to the sides so it doesn’t touch the bottom. Put water in the pot so that it won’t reach the bowl. Bring the water to a gentle boil.
