Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups plus 1-1/2 tablespoons flour, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 stick plus 2 tablespoons margarine, softened and divided
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 apples, peeled or unpeeled, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • ice cream

Method

Step 1

Sift 1-1/2 cups flour, salt, 1 teaspoon sugar and baking powder together. Cut in 1 stick margarine until crumbly. Combine egg and milk in bowl. Beat. Add to dry ingredients stirring until dry ingredients are moistened and mixture forms a ball.

Step 2

Press dough into ungreased 9-in. square pan. Cover with apples. Combine remaining sugar, flour, margarine and cinnamon in a bowl until crumbly. Sprinkle topping over apples. Sprinkle raisins on top. bake at 350° for 45 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream.
