Ingredients (buns)

2 cups hot water, divided

1/2 cup golden raisins

1/2 cup margarine

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup flour

4 eggs

Ingredients (icing)

1 tablespoon margarine

4-5 teaspoons half & half

1 cup confectioners’ sugar

1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Method

Step 1

Pour 1 cup water over raisins. Let stand for 5 minutes. Drain.

Step 2

In a large saucepan, bring butter, sugar, salt and remaining water to a boil. Add flour all at once and stir until a smooth ball forms. Remove from heat. Beat by hand for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Beat until mixture is well blended, about 3 minutes. Stir in raisins.

Step 4

Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375° for 30-35 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

Step 5

For icing, melt margarine. Stir in cream. Remove from heat. Add sugar, lemon juice and vanilla. Spread over buns while still warm.
