Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, divided
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1-1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 package (10 ounces) frozen spinach, chopped, thawed, & drained
  • 1/3 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (1/2 pound) feta cheese
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 16 filo sheets

Method

Step 1

Saute onions in 2 tablespoons of butter. Add ground beef and cook.

Step 2

Add spinach, parsley, dill, pepper, lemon, salt and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Step 3

Add feta cheese and eggs. Mix well.

Melt remaining butter. Place a phyllo sheet in greased 13x9-in. baking dish allowing edges to hang over. Brush with butter. Layer 7 more filo brushed with butter. Fold each sheet to fit into the pan.

Step 5

Spoon in beef mixture.

Step 6

Cover with remaining filo, brushing each with butter. Tuck filo under at edge of pan.
